What Is Citrulline Malate?
L-citrulline is a non-essential amino acid found naturally in watermelon. Once absorbed, the body converts it into L-arginine in the kidneys — in fact more efficiently than taking arginine itself, because citrulline bypasses the breakdown that arginine undergoes in the gut and liver. Arginine is the substrate the body uses to produce nitric oxide, a signalling molecule involved in the widening of blood vessels.
